On October 4, as part of the Russian-Indian Business Summit, there was held a round table devoted to tourism development issues and organized by the Russian Export Center. The Russian delegation was represented by tour operators from Moscow and Sochi and by cruise companies, and their Indian colleagues included 120 tour operators and representatives of media outlets. Sanjeev Pasricha, the President of the Northern Department of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) and Vice President of the EMA Group, emphasized the growth of interest to Russia in India, which rates exceeded the growth rates of other European countries.
The event also included a presentation of the India Friendly program participated by 25 hotels in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi. India Friendly is a program aimed at creation of a comfortable environment in Russia for the tourists from India, who, when leaving their country, face a number of inconveniences due to cultural and linguistic specifics.
The participants of the round table noted that the tourist flow from Russia to India had also grown (by 29% during the last 2 years). Experts reminded that India is rich in places of interest and beaches. Many tourist destinations (for example, Kerala, the Himalayas, Rajasthan, and Ladakh) are interesting for Russian tourists. That is why both the parties are interested in strengthening and development of business relations.
The next business mission of Russian companies to India is planned for the beginning of 2019.
