The head of REC emphasized the important role of Hong Kong in development of Russian business in the markets of the Asia-Pacific Region.
On September 24, negotiations with representatives of the business community of Hong Kong and Continental China “Russia – Hong Kong: Opening the Opportunities” were held in Moscow.
They were attended by Aleksandr Kozlov, Minister for the Development of the Far East; John Leigh, Vice President in the Greater China and Asia and Co-Director of the Corporate Clients Department of UBC AG; Alexander Shokhin, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs; David Chiu, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fast East Consortium International ltd; Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of the Kaluga Region; Ronnie Chan, Chairman of Hang Lung Capital and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Better Hong Kong Foundation; Allen Shi, Chairman of Brilliant International Group Ltd; Frankie Yeung, Senior District Director of AIA International Ltd; and other participants.
The topic of the discussions was joint projects in various spheres, development of commercial and economic cooperation and expansion of non-resource export volumes.
Andrey Slepnev highlighted the role of Hong Kong in development of Russian business in the markets of the Asia-Pacific Region: due to its special status and role as one of the key commercial and financial centers of the world, it became a starting point for entering the markets of China and neighboring countries for many companies.
In 2017, the companies of the REC Group supported export projects to Hong Kong for the amount of 3.75 mln doll. It is noteworthy that the volume of the support for the first six months of 2018 has grown and already exceeded the value for the whole 2017, making up 7.2 mln doll. Of special importance for us is work on promotion of Russian services, technologies and high-tech products. We see strong potential for cooperation in the sphere of development of urban environment, including solutions in the sphere of software (traffic and parking space control, etc.), exports of Russian construction technologies and high-tech construction materials, pharmacy services, aircraft engineering, and other spheres
