During a meeting held in the Russian Export Center, its Director General Andrey Slepnev and ex-Ambassador of Italy in Russia Cesare Maria Ragaglini discussed the status of mutual trade and economic relations. Italy traditionally remains an important trade partner for Russia, and, as noted by Mr. Ragaglini, despite complicated political environment, almost all major Italian productions, with the exception of FIAT plant, remained open for business in Russia.
Ex-Ambassador named development of complementary industries of Russian and Italian economies among the most promising prospects for cooperation. Andrey Slepnev supported the idea and noted that REC Group possesses all the tools required to support and facilitate delivery of Russian products to Italy.
Russian Export Center already provides significant support to national producers looking to enter foreign markets in general and Italian market specifically. In the past 9 months, export of Russian products to Italy increased by 19.7% against last year, and amounted to over 12 billion US dollars. At the same time, non-resource, non-energy exports grew by 29.5% - up to 1.79 billion US dollars. Indeed, economies of both our countries are quite specific. This allows us to negotiate different ways of implementing joint projects focused on exchange of goods so as to complement product lines of each of our countries.
In the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue working on the possibilities of mutually beneficial cooperation.
