On January 31, the first ever business mission called “Sweden – a promising market for Russian exporters” was held in the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow. The event was arranged by the Embassy of Sweden in Russia, Russian Export Center JSC (REC), the trade mission of the Russian Federation in Sweden, aided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The Swedish Minister-Counsellor, Mr. Tobias Lorentzson, and the trade representative of the Russian Federation, Mr. Aleksandr Abramov, addressed the participants with an opening speech.
More than 50 Russian manufacturers, which expressed interest in Swedish and adjacent markets, and the representatives of Swedish associations and foreign trade government bodies took part in the business mission.
The first part of the event was aimed to inform the Russian participants about the perspectives and opportunities to approach the Swedish market, commercial relations between Sweden and Russia, technical requirements to exported goods, and other aspects related to business operations with Swedish partners. Special attention was paid to the perspectives of collaboration with Russian manufacturers of vehicle components and procurement practices.
The director for the development of business in Moscow region at REC JSC, Mr. Grigory Ladyshev, in his presentation told about the measures to support the export operations, which include consulting services and REC’s financial products among other things.
During the question time, the representatives of business and organizations responsible for trade promotion in both countries had a possibility to ask the questions, examine the case studies, identify the perspectives of mutually beneficial co-operation, and plan for further relations between Russia and Sweden in B2B format.
A reception in the residence of the Swedish Ambassador took place after the meeting. During the reception, the representatives of Russian and Swedish business had a chance to communicate in an informal setting.
